Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Growing up on oldies from The American Graffiti soundtrack, 70's classic rock, sprinkled with skate punk, Olivia Newton John and pop centric FM radio. As a songwriter I was drawn to Tom Waits, Joan Armatrading and Bob Dylan. I love story tellers and writers who get away with being provocative, letting their words glide through the melody and making a subconscious impact on the listener. As an Artist, I loved the character of David Bowie, and the strength of Annie Lennox.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Every live show is an opportunity to grow as a performer and connect to new audiences. Showcasing at a festival of this size would push us as artists, expand our belief system in what is possible and access to new music fans on a level that is hard to achieve as an Indie artist.
What would you do with $50,000?
Invest back into our music and career. Create more opportunities to develop our live performance; bring on other musicians, leverage the access to help other artist become part of our shows. I would also continue to record new music that is ready to go and use the funding to help market upcoming releases.
