Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Earlier in my musical career I was most influenced by bands like Foo Fighters, Van Halen, Queen, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but upon going to college and not owning a drum kit, I had to switch to acoustic playing and have written songs more in the style of Chris Stapleton, Josh Klinghoffer, and Jeff Buckley. In terms of influences that aren't artists, I owe everything I know about music to my dad who got me into it and gave me intuition for music which allowed me to self-teach myself everything.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would start it. What better place to start? Throw me in the deep end, I'm not scared and I've got nothing better to do.
What would you do with $50,000?
Record every song I've ever written, and release them all. Music that's kept to yourself is meaningless. I'd use the rest to hire someone who could get my music out there, and once I did that, I'd only keep a reasonable wage per year and donate the rest to family and charity.
