Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My biggest music inspirations would have to be my great grandmother and grandma. After I was born in New York, I grew up in Panama listening to my great grandmother sing traditional cumbia music in the mountains. She would sing to me & teach me folk music where then my grandmother would then sing them in the church while I sat in the audience. These two women are one of my biggest musical influences. Cumbia is an Afro latin story telling of migration and adaption. I plan to continue this leg
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would be a beautiful milestone in my career. My music is about healing and self reflection. It is a testament to my growth as well as the celebration of my black and brown brothers and sisters. I have performed in Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Sonar Fest in Spain, Whole Fest in Berlin, and soon III Points in Miami. I believe my music has extreme potential for a Global Audience. I do not just perform, I create and experience for my audience.
What would you do with $50,000?
Winning $50,000 would take me out of debt and I would be able to help my family in Panama. The house in the mountains where my mom was raised, and where I was raised, is still not finished being built. After 3 generations, it is still under construction and it is my dream to finish building it for my family, I want to give back in ways they poured into me. This would also fund my next project and help me be able to pay my team of photographers, videographers, pr team and manager.
