Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Musically I’m inspired by a wide variety of artists but I try to pick elements from each. I like the storytelling and vulnerability of Andre, the musical composition of acts like the Roots, and experimentation of new musicians like Cruza and Isaiah Rashad. Growing up in Chicago I was influenced by local acts like Mick Jenkins and Noname, who use perspective of home. But most importantly is to be inspired by these acts and understand how to take those elements and pour them into myself.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would greatly impact me by adding to my growing platform. Although I’ve gained some traction with my fine art and with my music, showcasing at an event like this would allow me to push the boundaries of art. Mixing mediums on a stage like this would help me bring my brand identity to a new audience.
What would you do with $50,000?
With the money I would allocate resources to new creations be it studio time, workshop spaces, performances, gallery spaces or material costs but more importantly I would be able to afford videography to bring my audience into my creative world more. Utilizing my content to bridge the gap of the mediums for my audience.
