Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Brandi Carlile’s raw vocals and honest storytelling ground me, especially when I doubt my own voice. Dolly Parton’s glamour gives me confidence on stage, while Fleetwood Mac’s messy swagger pushes my writing boundaries. I draw harmonic and storytelling inspiration from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Madison Cunningham’s intricate melodies and guitar work challenge me to grow as both an instrumentalist and songwriter.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Taking political and social action has always been central to who I am. Performing at Global Citizen Festival would align my artistry with a cause I deeply believe in. Sharing my music with an audience that shares those values would not only help me reach the right listeners, but also allow me to build a meaningful, connected community through my songs.
What would you do with $50,000?
Like many, I’d use the prize to record and market an album, but more than that, I’d invest in creating community events centered around music and giving back. Music has given me purpose and connection, and I want to help build that same sense of belonging for others.
