Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspirations are Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. I appreciate their love for live music and respect for artistry. As I study them, I see their willingness to take their audiences on a journey whether through albums, live performances, everyday lives or their social media presences. I aim to do the same.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would impact my career greatly by allowing me to have musical freedom on a bigger stage than what I've been on. Meeting other artists would be fun, of course, but I want to bring a show to the audience that will give them a peace, a moment where we can all feel like we're together, and not fighting against all the pains we feel. I want this opportunity to impact others' lives just as much as it'll impact mine. I want people to realize their voice matters here.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would probably try to pay back some of my student loan debt (I'm kidding lol) In all honesty, I would find a city where I could flourish as a live performer/artist and move there. Budget my money wisely, invest in a wardrobe that matches my artistry and use the rest to promote myself and create visuals to get my name out there. As an independent artist, the one thing that hinders me, I feel, is money so winning this would give me the security I need to follow my dreams and not look back.
