Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I think my biggest musical inspiration would be Lady Gaga, because she's the definition of what is it to be a star: fashion - gaga, music - gaga, performance - gaga, records - gaga, cake - like lady gaga! I'm also inspired by the excitement you feel at night clubs, drag [go big or go home!], gogo dancers, DJs, and video games. The Lion King is also my favorite movie. It inspired me to create music in Swahili - to channel Africa's power through each word and every sound.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival will allow me to share my vision with the world - and beyond. Imagine aliens tuning in! Just the act of being considered to compete has changed my life; now winning would bring even more opportunities. Creative energy is powerful, and I want to channel that energy in future collaborations, to learn more about production, composition, and performance. Not only will this impact my career, but it'll bring people together.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would like to dedicate 50% to non-profit organizations in Africa - for clean water, food, housing - and devote 50% towards my real estate career. I'm a licensed realtor in Chicago and it has always been a dream of mine to start my own real estate agency. That way I'll be able to aid the homeless and invest in affordable housing.
