Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I have many musician inspirations that have all affected my life in one way or another. Growing up, my grandparents were always playing Elvis, Bobby Darin, and Johnny Cash. That made me always appreciate a good storyteller. And my adult life I love songwriters like Adrianne Lenker, Bon Iver, Taylor Swift, and Phoebe Bridgers because they paint such vivid imagery with their songs.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Getting the opportunity to perform in front of thousands would be the best exposure I could dream of. When I first starting writing, I remember crying in my room at times worried that no one would ever hear what I had to say. Now, I’ve been playing my own headlining shows and releasing music of my own. I think fourteen year old me would be really proud to see how many people have actually heard what she’s written. What would you do with $50,000?
I would first pay my parents back for their investment in my career. They’re my biggest supporters and friends. Next I would invest into recording more music and production fees. I have so much music I want to release but don’t have the resources at this time. With the rest, I would put some into a savings fund going towards my Nashville move and donate the rest to my city’s family justice center that I have volunteered with.
