Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Great African artists like Salif Keita, Oumuo Sangare, Fali Ipupa, and the late Fela, and Osibisa are some of my inspirations.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It’ll be a great platform for me to showcase my Hausa heritage to a global audience. Unfortunately there hasn’t been any Hausa music on a stage like that despite its rich history. An opportunity to perform will be great for the community as a whole.
What would you do with $50,000?
I’ll support Kokrobite Skate Crew, which is an underprivileged skate and surf club I founded in the less privileged community of Kokrobite to help the kids in the community, and create a safe surf for them to explore skating, and surfing as a means to escape the vices, and poverty in their lives. I would also use it to fund an album to showcase Hausa music.
