Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My music is inspired by missionaries dedicated to Korea beyond religion. American missionaries taught classical music/language, planting seeds that fueled Korea's growth, K-pop, a world-class classical scene, & equal education (many universities bear names). Grateful for US opportunities as a Korean trad musician, I empower global immigrant youth via art (pride/leadership). This mission honors pioneers' dedication & aims to enrich the world through music.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
As a pioneer ('firsts') in Korean trad music, I'll showcase unique trad/modern fusion at Global Citizen Festival. This platform highlights immigrant youth's potential to contribute via traditional arts. The multicultural US offers a chance to instill pride/leadership, promoting a life for public good beyond materialism. Through cross-cultural fusion, we show bigger dreams achieved together.
What would you do with $50,000?
For 30 yrs, I've prepared to open an art school (ages 0-18, holistic ed). With $50k, I'll rent a building & start classes. I'll support talented kids regardless of race with professional training. The school will offer stable jobs for artists, helping them pursue their passion. My goal: artists making positive social impact, creating a virtuous cycle of giving back love/support received.
