Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My father worked hard on the production line at GM building trucks. He's also an astonishing guitar player. We lock horns when it comes to punk rock, but we unite under the flag of Rock n Roll. We didn't speak for years. I was addicted to heroin, and he has been sober for 46 yrs. Politics is another sore spot, but I'm proud to have him as a Dad. I Love: Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams, Patti Smith, Exene Cervenka and John Doe, 7 Year Bitch, L7, Lunachicks, Huggy Bear, Koko Taylor, and Billie Holiday.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
So far my career spans from front manning punk rock bands in bars I got my bands kicked out of to playing in basement and back yard parties. This opportunity could be what I've been waiting for my whole Life. An audience so monstrous is unfathomable to me. I would give my right hand just to get on the stage and sing. I wouldn't be able to play my guitar, but I'd give it all I've got just to have 1 chance at the Life I've always wanted.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would give $5,000 to a political org that combats: racism and sexism, is for gay rights and youth rights and for uniting the working class around the world. I'd buy a Chevy truck like my Dad built to drive my brother to appointments for his illness (He was shot in Flint as an innocent bystander). I would also finish my basement to use as a studio for my music.
