Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Black Eyes Peas ('Monkey Business' Era) and Nicki Minaj. Both managed to find intelligent ways to tell their stories, while making the music enjoyable and infectious. Nicki Minaj, specifically, has changed the way people see rap, opening the game up for more and more female artists. I can only dream to assist in doing the same for helping solidify the necessity for queer voices in rap.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Obviously, exposure. Duh. But, anyone trying to make it in this industry knows that connecting with real humans outside of a digital screen is KEY to longevity. And it's not just about making an in-person connection, it's about making life long fans who see my act and are then further inspired to chase their dreams. We only get a limited time on this planet, so to not use each of our talents to inspire others feels like a waste of said limited time.
What would you do with $50,000?
Reinvest it right back into my music career (and pay my rent). I recently quit my full-time job as a digital marketing coordinator at an independent music label in order to continue pursuing my passion as an artist, so I know half the game is marketing. Having this additional budget would allow me to ensure I'm spreading my music and message as far as I possibly can.
