Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration is comprised of a series of female vocal power houses, and the incredible musicality of instrumentalist singer-songwriters. My favourite female vocalist include Etta James, Stevie Nicks, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Nina Simone, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Natalie Maines, Brandy, Monica, Leona Lewis, and many more. And re: instrumentality & storytelling through lyrics, I really do look back at artists from the 50s and 60s and 70s.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the global citizen festival would completely change my music trajectory and impact my career in a big way. Perhaps with enough attention towards my performance and presence there — if that’s a possibility, it would propel me to be able to do music full-time.
What would you do with $50,000?
Oh my gosh, I don’t know. The realistic answer as a musician would be to round out my musical gear. But I also know that I have loved ones in need and I would probably see who in my family needed help and support that. I can get my gear at any time, but family is forever.
