Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration isn’t one person or moment—writing songs is something I just have to do. I’ve wanted to be a songwriter my whole life, but it wasn’t until I turned 40 that I really started putting in the day-in, day-out work to earn that title. I have so many songs in me that need to come out and I can’t live a fulfilled life unless I keep showing up and doing this work to make them real. How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at Global Citizen Festival would validate years of hard work. It’s a powerful step forward in making these songs matter to more people. That's all I care about and now I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about it.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would keep making records. That's it. I'd collaborate with the best people I could find and keep conjuring up the best songs I can.
