Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I draw a lotta inspiration from Keith Whitley, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Buck Owens. Things like Buck’s twangy vibe shaped songs like Cowboys and Dreamers and Gone (A Prequel). Johnny Cash showed me grit and Waylon Jennings brought that outlaw spirit. To me, it’s about honoring where Country came from while tellin’ my own story.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
As an independent artist, it’s all about getting on stages so people can learn who I really am. Playing the Global Citizen Festival—on a stage in front of tens of thousands in Central Park—would be a monster experience! It’s a chance to share my story, my sound, and connect with folks from all over the world. A moment like that could open doors I’ve only prayed about.
What would you do with $50,000?
I’ve put every dime I’ve made right back into my career, and this $50,000 would be no different. It’d go toward gear, studio time, and gas money—everything that keeps the wheels turning. I’ve been wanting to tour out west for a while now, and this could finally make that dream a reality.
