Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I always find Stevie Wonder to be a huge inspiration to me through his exploration of cultural sounds. His music has always felt boundless, whether it was blending Indian jazz with his signature sound or giving us a take on reggae funk; he is always taking you on a journey through music. It's more than just a great song, it's a great story of life as well. I want to make music that tells the stories and captures you in the story.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would have a tremendous impact. More than just building a fanbase, I believe in building and molding community through music and to align with an organization, and festival, that shares the same aspirations and goals, would be a step in the right direction for my career goals.
What would you do with $50,000?
That money would definitely go towards my current typical career goals; finishing an album with proper branding and marketing, building out the home studio and a vacation! I also would put the money towards starting a cultural arts initiative that helps sustain local economy, local artists and arts education. It's a passion of mine to rebuild community through cultural arts and this money would definitely help jump start that goal.
