Who or what is your musical inspiration?
There are an incredible number of influences for Marianne Toilet and The Runs! From Tenacious D, Bloodhound Gang, and Garfunkel and Oates, to the Who, Brian Eno, Lewis Capaldi, Metallica, Blink-182, NOFX the list goes on and on! We're also inspired by a desire to bring sex positivity/support to those who aren't able to fight for their rights. A big part of our mission is to eliminate the taboo of sex being a difficult topic. It's a massive part of life, we should not be afraid to discuss it!
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
One thing we've learned is that every opportunity could be THE opportunity!! Some shows we thought were total bombs got us booked for major events, and other shows that seemed amazing actually led to nothing. Ideally, it would be an incredible impact if playing the Global Citizen Festival could lead to a career in music!! We have no expectations on making billions of dollars and grammies, but we know there is a market for what we do and there is a path to massive success and growth!
What would you do with $50,000?
Hopefully find a way to invest in a manner where we can perform and tour professionally! If hypothetically that is not necessary and we can use the $50,000 for anything else, we'd likely donate it to education reform (and contributing to bring music back into schools that have cut music programs due to funding. Though we may need to pay off some debts. Life gets in the way sometimes.)
