Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My Great Uncle George Wettling, one of the most famous Jazz drummers of all time - lifelong collaborator with Louis Armstrong and so many more. I keep his practice pad in my studio as a reminder to always be improving
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Each time my music is exposed to wider audience, I am flooded with reminders of why I create. During the pandemic, I had a few streams reach over 200k people. I am still in contact with some of those people today. I am convinced my music has a broader appeal than I have been able to find for it myself.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would gather three or four of my most talented collaborators and create a tour around an album. I’ve worked full time since I was 12 years old and supported myself since I was 17. Never in my life have I had an opportunity to choose music over food and shelter and this would give me the leap I have been working for for over 20 years.
