Who or what is your musical inspiration?
The Clash, Kendrick Lamar, Joy Division, Dolly Parton, Viagra Boys, The Beatles, Radiohead, the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, and Sonic Youth Also that sound you hear when you’re walking down the street and hear someone screaming but you’re not sure if it’s from a movie or if it’s actually happening.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would give people the opportunity to see us play outside of an abandoned Pittsburgh bowling alley or a sticky Philadelphia dorm room - both which we’ve played to great acclaim. It would also show people that an artist can be many things - one minute they can make you dance, the next make you cry, scare you. More David Bowie, less Benson Boone.
What would you do with $50,000?
We would record our next album, tour the world, gain a huge following, enlarge our egos, break-up, spend the subsequent 15 years with each of us recording lesser solo records as we complain and spread rumors about each other to the press (but exclusively to Rolling Stone), then finally make up because of an offer for an exorbitant amount of money for a reunion tour that we co-headline with Ringo Starr (who YES will still believe by then).
