Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Personally, I draw musical inspiration from a wide variety of artists and genres, but my main influences stem from the following artists: jazz artists Michael Brecker (the GOAT as far as tenor saxophonists are concerned...), John Coltrane, David Sanborn, Miles Davis, Tom Scott, Kenny Garrett, etc. and artists that fall more in the pop world like Bruno Mars, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Prince... the list goes on and on... The other guys in my group largely have similar influences.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
For me, I've been at professional music for about 20 years and I've been a 'solo' performer/bandleader for about 7 now. Just about every group that I've been a part of has been a worthwhile musical ensemble with some killer players and even a few very noteworthy names amongst the personnel... Not one "major break" or particularly fortuitous happening has ever come to fruition for me during that time (despite so, so, so, so, so many "almosts"). It sure would be nice for that t
What would you do with $50,000?
In all likelihood, I would pay for the next two albums with $50K (or at least the next one, anyway.) Each project costs my record label about $20K give or take. Sadly money doesn't grow on trees and streams aren't exactly paying well these days... I appreciate the consideration. Matthew.
