My musical inspiration draws from powerful vocalists like Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, and Bob Marley who merged artistic excellence with social consciousness. I'm also inspired by global sounds and cultural traditions that transcend borders, aligning with my humanitarian philosophies. Really, my inspiration is rooted in real human connection— Those I meet directly, from survivors, to activists, who inspire my songwriting, giving my music both emotional honesty and its call to action.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at Global Citizen Festival would transform my career by connecting my upliftment-focused music with their massive engaged audience. Having consistently chosen substance over trends, this platform would validate that path and demonstrate conscious artistry and commercial viability aren't mutually exclusive. This visibility would amplify my career's purpose: using music to connect hearts across borders. It would elevate both my artistic platform and ability to create meaningful change.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would be so humbled to have a budget to complete my newest album, dedicated to unpacking the worldwide epidemic of "disconnection," despite being constantly plugged-in. The first song, titled "Belong" incorporates 3 different stories of young people who feel rejected and on the outside of love.
