Thank you for generously supporting Nothing Wrong With Wet Socks in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to empower Global Citizen in their mission to eradicate extreme poverty and create a world where everyone has an equal chance to thrive.
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
The Beatles, The Police and Sublime to start, and MacSeal, Oolong and Mom Jeans to end, and everything in between. We are ex-theatre kids, so throw in songs from Annie and Dear Evan Hansen just to show our roots. However, other than what we hear, our other senses are our biggest inspiration. Seeing the Muppets Movie and feeling nostalgic with their songs. Eating Taco Bell and remembering a fun night out. Smelling night time air as we drive with windows down. And of course, feeling wet socks.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
The easy response is “greatly”: global public exposure and recognition are the obvious positive results. However, the sense of accomplishment, having started at sparsely attended coffeehouses and friend’s graduation parties to a performer at an international festival benefitting a worthy cause would only inspire us to go even further. We all have planned to have music somewhere in our future education endeavors and being selected and performing would validate this choice.
What would you do with $50,000?
Wait a minute, there’s a cash prize involved?… If we can’t double it and pay it forward, then we would figure out a way to (1) pay our parents back for all they have sacrificed for us and our music careers, and (2) do something impactful for those around us musically - free lessons or instruments for those that don’t have that chance like we did. Music has meant that much to us. And if there are leftovers, (3) dry socks.
