Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I’ve developed my own cosmic brew from the influences around me - Disco, Country, Yacht Rock, Funk and all of the folk musics of the post-urban migration of mid-20th century America. Weaving these influences together like a seamstress for the band, I offer up my own addition to the great patchwork quilt of American music.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Given that I’ve been touring and performing for my entire adult life, I know my live show and my backing band are truly top quality and can deliver. If people could see this on a larger scale, I believe we could really reach a much larger audience and help take my band and my music to the next level. No tracks, no lip synching, this is the real deal that people are missing from modern pop music today and I think I can be the antidote to that.
What would you do with $50,000?
As a fully independent artist with no industry backing at this point in my career, I would continue to invest in my analog home studio (tape machine, mics) so I can continue to make records on my own creative terms. I would promote my current album through video content, PR and digital marketing. I would also use the money to support my upcoming international tour dates, which would allow me to pay my band what they deserve and take a lot of the stress out of the expenses of being on the road.
