Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I’ve been playing and singing songs from musicals since I was a little kid. This laid the foundation for my songwriting as with every song I try to paint a picture and tell a story. My life has been full of love and full of pain, these are the stories I tell. Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston and Anita Baker are my biggest inspirations. They didn’t leave anything to be desired when it came to their music, and I plan on doing the same.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It’s always been a dream of mine to play at a festival. Playing at the Global Citizen Festival would be a dream come true. I know I was born for the stage, and this festival would propel me to where I need to go.
What would you do with $50,000?
I currently make all my music in my small apartment in chicago. I’d give anything to build my own recording studio where I can record my future records. $50,000 would make that happen for me!
