Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Lexii Alijai was the first person to take me to an official studio session at 15. Like me, she was also an independent artist from the Midwest. Lexii showed me my dreams were attainable if I was willing to work for them. I learned so much from spending the day with her, one of the most crucial lessons being snacks runs are mandatory before any session. She taught me that my story deserves to be heard no matter what my past looks like. These lessons are what inspire my lyricism to this day.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This opportunity would allow me to share my story on an unimaginable platform. Through my festival preparation this experience would not only positively challenge me to grow as a performer, but also connect me with an audience who stories mirror mine.
What would you do with $50,000?
While my journey to the stage starts at the Global Citizen Festival it won’t end there because half of this award will support my ability to host a mini-Midwest tour for my upcoming album Personal Space. The remaining half of this prize will be budgeted for developing promotional materials for the project. If selected, this award would be fundamental in my creative development as a queer indie artist.
