Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I grew up listening to punk, hardcore, and aggressive music in general. But in my early 20’s I discovered artists like John Butler, Andy McKee, Alan Gogol, American Football, The Promise ring and many other similar artists. I pull inspiration from so many different genres and artists that the list would go on forever.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I’ve been in bands and playing music since I was 8 years old. No matter how much success or lack of success I ever got with my music, I continued on because I simply love it. If I were able to share my music live in front of a crowd this large, I could amplify my reach and bring my sound to even more people. I’ve been at this for so long and if given this opportunity, I would never take it for granted. Thinking about where I started, to where it could still lead keeps me going.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would use the funds for a better setup to enhance my music, performances, recordings and content. I would also spread the wealth by helping friends achieve their music goals, no matter what that may look like. If I have the financial means to do so, I will. Everything would be kept music and performance related and it would create great music and new passions.
