Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I've been incredibly fortunate to have my musical inspirations come from my family network. My father was a lead vocalist and to this day, often joins me onstage when I gig in LA. My mother was a backing vocalist and is STILL a harmony queen. My mother's best friend (who is also a harmony queen) is also the daughter of Eddy Grant, whose studio I spent a lot of time in as a child growing up in Barbados. You could say I had no choice but to be an artist!
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
As an indie artist, it's not enough to be talented, to make good music, or to know you would rock the Global Citizen Festival (which I would) anymore. Cutting through the noise is what matters most today. Performing at the GCF festival would be an invaluable way to do that and show people that I'm not here for fun and games! I live, love, and breathe this!
What would you do with $50,000?
Being in music is expensive, especially when you're indie. So I would use the $50k to capitalize on the opportunity! I'd hire a videographer/photographer to capture the event for social media, hire PR to help me further leverage the exposure gained, and the rest into marketing my music. After taking a chunk out for savings, of course!
