Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspirations are quite diverse, starting with my grandma and my mom singing in church. My band director played a big role in shaping my musical discipline and passion. From the harmonies of The Eagles and the Southern rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd, to the country roots of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Keith Whitley, and Charlie Daniels. I’ve also drawn inspiration from Danny Shirley, The Wright Brothers Overland Stage Company, Billy Preston, and the Doobie Brothers.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would mark a powerful moment of career resurgence for me, fueled by a new wave of extremely well-crafted songs that reflect both my growth as an artist and the depth of my musical roots. Sharing the stage at such a globally recognized event would not only amplify my message to a broader audience, but also reintroduce my sound to the world at a time when authenticity and meaningful storytelling in music are more important than ever.
What would you do with $50,000?
If I were awarded a $50,000 prize, half of it would go toward paying down the mortgage on my home, a step toward long-term stability for my family. A quarter would be used for a trip to Europe with my wife, visiting the places where I honed my music skills and deepened my passion for performing. The remaining quarter would be donated to support Veterans' needs through organizations like TAPS and family assistance programs, giving back to the community that has given so much to me.
