Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I started music because of a crush on a rapper, but it quickly became my passion. When my aunt passed away from cancer, music became the way I stayed close to her—her bold, loud spirit lives on every time I step on stage. My cousin Ragini Shankar’s Indian classical teachings shaped my sound, and artists like Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish inspire me to be unapologetically authentic and fearless.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I have performed 100 times in venues across the lower east side in NYC, starting off using a fake id to get into venues to perform when I was 18 years old. I was born for this. I can not go a second without hearing music: the sound of the heater underwater, the frequency of wind, each and every element of background music, etc. I know I’m going to make it, it’s just a matter of when. I want Global Citizen Festival to be that when.
What would you do with $50,000?
If I had $50,000, I’d buy a looping board to show people the behind-the-scenes of my songwriting, layering sounds step by step. I’d host intimate live sessions in unexpected places like rooftops and gardens to create raw, personal experiences. I’d collaborate with diverse artists to blend new sounds and fund mentorship programs for young women breaking into music. It’s all about building community, connection, and fresh stories through music.
