Who or what is your musical inspiration?
As a kid, my father would listen to a lot of Elvis Presley and Eric Clapton, which triggered my interest to learn guitar. I was later introduced to heavier music from bands like Deftones and Tool. My head basically exploded when I heard them and I remember wanting to create music that would have that same effect on people. Ever since then, I've experimented with different styles and influences that eventually became what I believe is a sound unique to me. And I'm excited about it.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Almost every musician's dream is to have a big break and have their music heard. I'm no different and I believe performing something so intimate that came from my soul and sharing that at a festival like this will not only open doors for my career, but open minds to aspiring musicians and music lovers as well. The industry is such a different landscape now compared to what it was in the early 2000's so an opportunity like this could really make all the difference in how far my music can go.
What would you do with $50,000?
Honestly, $50,000 would do a lot a good for anyone but it's less about the money for me and more about getting my music heard and inspiring others. But if I were to win that money, I think the first thing I would do is seek out some young dreamers that are interested in pursuing a career in music and buy them their first guitar or drum set. One of the best things my parents had ever done for me was put a guitar in my hands. It's time I pay it forward.
