Who or what is your musical inspiration?
The pioneers of rock 'n' roll, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and the Doo Wop singers inspire me. Leiber & Stoller, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, Holland, Dozier & Holland, and King & Goffin are among the song writers who inspire me. Leon Russell inspires my piano playing style. The AM radio DJs exposed me to the music I love. And The Beatles and Bob Dylan have influenced and inspired the way I write, record and perform. How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would give me a great opportunity to present my songs and myself to an important and significant audience. Additionally, I would make very useful contacts to gain more knowledge of the business of music and to meet others with whom I might collaborate.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would invest that money into the many aspects of the music writing, recording and performing that require financial investment. I would buy useful recording equipment. I would hopefully find and hire talented musicians and a manager who can take my career to hire levels. I would travel to Nashville and Los Angeles to try to locate people and publishers who are sufficiently connected and who believe in me and my songs so they can help me advance my career in the music industry.
