Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My inspiration comes from poetry my mom wrote when I was younger. She use to read them to me and I was mesmerized with how she was able to put words together to give what she wrote a deeper meaning. Sometimes her the lingo rubs off. It made me love poetry. Music is another form of that. When I write mine I try to write like my mom to make mine with a little twist. My life might’ve not been the best. Being able to put my emotions on paper instead of in other areas.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I feel like I’ll be fine out there. I can talk to people and relate. Knowing that people hear what I say in my music shows that I am just as normal as them and that anyone can do it. I just want my voice to be heard because it really wasn’t heard when I was young. I wasn’t to show that anything is possible even the impossible.
What would you do with $50,000?
Invest in the future of not only myself but the people around me. It’s a start. I want to keep getting better with what I love to do and make a way for others to do the same. Rebuild the community that’s been lost and divided. Really be able to help the ones that got me here by helping make opportunities for them. I feel like I was put here by God to make other’s day better than mine. I try at least. But nothing would beat seeing my mom smile ear to ear seeing her son on stage
