Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Growing up, I travelled the country performing original and traditional Gospel Music with my family and for that reason Gospel will always feel a bit like home for me! In college I studied classical music, which shaprened my ear and expanded my mind on what was possible for me musically! And of course I have to include Sade’! As a child something about her angelic voice and smooth the delivery made me fall in love with an alternative take on R&B and Neo Soul.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This would literally be a career changing, accelerating opportunity for me! To have the gift of being an artist in this life time is one of the biggest blessings anyone could ask for, but I consider my self 2x blessed because the music I am inspired to make helps people to connect more deeply : With themselves, with others and with life! This opportunity make it so that I could help even more people to connect, which is definitely something we could use more of in the world!
What would you do with $50,000?
I would invest this money into my music business and making sure other great up and coming artists can be heard! I’m grateful to know a LOT of great songwriters and performers that I believe the world needs to hear! A large part of the prize money will go to making a studio space so that we can all create without the financial barrier so we can get the music out and into the world!
