Who will perform at the Global Citizen Festival, appear in Rolling Stone, and take home $50,000?
Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration comes from songwriters of all genres but specifically those who write beautiful lyrics and melodies. The Great American Songbook comprises myriad examples of great lyrics and melodies and delivered best, in my opinion, by Tony Bennett, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and more recently Diana Krall. From the rock genre, that would be David Bowie, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Pete Townsend and Paul Weller. My latest collection of songs is very David Bowie influenced.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizens Festival would certainly help to re-gain recognition. I had some limited success in the past as the singer, songwriter and bassist of a band called Design For Living. I played at most major venues in NYC. I think that today, I could certainly pull off live performances in larger venues and the Global Citizens Festival could start that up.
What would you do with $50,000?
I'd probably use the $50,000 to cover the costs of new recordings. Even with my home studio tracking, getting the best results requires hiring good producers, audio engineers, recording and rehearsal studios and musicians. To date, everything has come out of my pocket.
