Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration, especially right now, is the creative scene in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas in Louisiana that I’ve been able to experience and contribute to. We have so many different genre influences — from hyperpop to rap to neo-soul — that are brought into one space to collaborate. Our scene also thrives across many different mediums, such as film, fashion, photography, and visual art, all of which inspire me musically.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Performing at the Global Citizen Festival would have a huge impact on my career. Not only would it be the biggest audience to experience my musical performance, but it would also allow me to use the power of my art and my voice to spread awareness of the issues affecting the world and help inspire change. It would be an honor and a joy to bring my culture and art to a new scene and meet the pioneers of change.
What would you do with $50,000?
With the $50,000, I would not only be able to invest in myself and my creative endeavors, but also support the creative scene of Baton Rouge and the other Louisiana communities that I immerse myself in. Future X Youth (FXY), a creative collective that champions artistic expression, has grown into a movement I’ve been fortunate to help build from the beginning — and one I’m committed to continuing to pour into as it evolves.
