Who or what is your musical inspiration?
I am all over the place when it comes to my musical inspiration. It can range from Celeste, Billy Holiday, BB, Etta James, and continue with artist like Macy Gray, Tracy Chapman, Anne Peebles, Jacob Banks, Foy Vance then roll over to Jessie Reyes, Iniko, Billie Eilish. I can't forget gospel like Victory Boyd and Lauren Daigle as well as others like HER, Halle, Mahalia, and Phora to name a few.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would provide me exposure like I have never had before, and the opportunity to network with other artists and musicians that I hope to one day work with. I could use these associations to further my advocacy work that I achieve through poetry, theatrical arts. Community service and creative writing. I speak for the voiceless, and assist people in my community that have noone to help them. I challenge systems, and provide solutions. This festival embodies all I am, and have been for 25 years❤️
What would you do with $50,000?
I want to help my son with permanent housing and I want to take my plays, spoken poetry and songs on the road to share them and advocate for others with them.
