Who or what is your musical inspiration?
The Fish of Wagoner is so unique because we have so many influences. From punk-rock powerhouses like Nirvana and Green Day, to jazz masters like Miles Davis and Chic Corea, we have a fresh take on a classic sound. We never stop listening to new music, and never let ourselves get stuck on one sound. There's no boundaries, nothing is ever off-limits for us. The Fish of Wagoner sound like The Fish of Wagoner, because we're The Fish of Wagoner.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
This is the largest stage we've ever been given the chance to perform on. When you're a small band, no one really trusts you to put on a good show. No one's ever heard of you, no one knows what you look like on stage, they don't know if you can even play your instruments. This is a chance to prove who we are, to show off the hard work we've put into this band over the years. Everyone always tells us they want more from us. This would open up so many doors for that "more."
What would you do with $50,000?
The band desperately needs a van to tour in, along with more audio equipment to finish "The Fish House," another house venue for other punk rockers in the ILM and greater ENC area. We'd also love to re-record our demo EP, and we've written more songs in the meantime! Enough to complete our first full-length album. Plus, our drummer wants a new kit, and he's a really good guy (and an even better drummer) so we'd probably let him have that too. Probably.
