Who or what is your musical inspiration?
Our band is inspired by all the artists out there who express musical freedom and unbounded creativity in their work. We aim to surprise people and hold them in a unique sound experience, taking them on a journey by way of their ears. Our live shows are never the same twice, and often circus-like in spirit as our music prioritizes sponaneity and adventure while remaining strongly composed and endlessly groovy. With members from Canada, Chile, & Ecuador, we blur genre boundaries.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
Our goal is to keep expanding artistically in the attempt to realize our full potential as a unique band. We are productive and truly passionate about performing live. We wrote an hour of music in our first 6 months together then played over 50 shows in Vancouver the next year, including in local festivals. Performing at the GCF would expose us to many more appreciative listeners and help us build bridges to further writing, recording, and performing opportunities, including beyond Canada.
What would you do with $50,000?
With $50,000 we would press a vinyl run of our second release 'Trapo Casual', a one-take improvised album that is Chaotic Good Jazz's top new jazz pick of 2025 thus far; we would make several more hours of studio recordings, including exploration of improvisations, experimental recording techniques, and collaborations with guest musicians, and invest in releasing at least one new record with Protomaterial Records in Catalonia; we would fund touring to somewhere such as the UK, Spain, or Ecuador.
