Who or what is your musical inspiration?
DJ Shadow is one of my biggest inspirations for his approach to sampling and production. Three 6 Mafia for their production style and genre bending. Both artists have influenced my sound immensely and it is very apparent in my music. I have listened to both since I was young and they've always been what I've modeled my sound and approach to music after. DJ Smokey is another artist that heavily influences my sound and production. These 3 artists I consider the trifecta of what makes my music.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It would impact my career greatly, because while I have a decent fanbase, I am nowhere near the level I still aim to be. It would be great to bring my sound to a wider audience, introducing people to a style they might not be familiar with and bringing it to a bigger level than has never been done before. My style of music is very niche, but I believe it has what it takes to attract people on a broader scale. I have also never performed on a scale like this, but have always dreamed to.
What would you do with $50,000?
I would invest it in both my music and my life. I am from a smaller area in Illinois, and it's always been my dream to move to a big city where my music and lifestyle can flourish even better. If I were to win the money, I would invest in attaining a more professional approach in music. With a better studio and better equipment, and also put the rest of the money to help with being able to move out to where my dreams and goals are. It would be extremely life changing for me!
