Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My musical inspiration is from a plethora of sources. However, my Father was a big proponent to the introduction of how to make music. Since I was a child, he would always train my ear to pick out cool licks, riffs, chords, runs from instruments and vocals in the records we would listen to. He introduced me to the birth of Hip Hop, Detroit Techno, Chicago House and contemporary Jazz. His introduction really sparked my curiosity and provided me with a love for so many styles and genres of music.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
I am a firm believer that I have music and a story that can resonate with people. I believe that I have fans out there right now that don’t even know I exist. The challenge for me, as it is for all artists, is to find my strong, loyal fans. I believe that performing at the Global Citizen Festival would be such an amazing opportunity to connect with and meet my potential fans through my music and live performance, and network with other artists and creatives in the music industry as well.
What would you do with $50,000?
Wow. First thought is to help pay off my student loans! But as it pertains to my music, there’s so much I could do with that. I have an album that I’m planning to release this fall, so it would be incredible to have a budget for my album. Such as, radio campaigns, social media advertising, further building my clothing brand, music video production, more pitching for sync licensing, building my team, paying my musicians more for gigs, planning a tour, and so much more.
