Who or what is your musical inspiration?

I’ve always been intrigued by the past and the origins behind music. I’m a huge fan of jazz, soul, r&b and I love seeing its connection to the blues and African rhythms and harmonic elements such as the pentatonic scale. I also value the Afro-Caribbean and afro Latino combinations of music, such as reggaeton, dancehall, salsa, merengue. It’s through my admiration of the musical ancestry that’s came before me that allows me to envision new musical combinations, some I&


How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?

In this digital age, exposure and attention is our currency. In my SoundCloud analytics, I’m very popular with people overseas, like the Philippines or Brazil. But I believe performing infront of a live audience as an artist, not only would fulfill a dream for me, but would allow me to network with more people in the United States. The Internet allows for easy communication around the world, but word of mouth will always remain as the most authentic form of connecting with the fans.


What would you do with $50,000?

I was born in Mexico, so being undocumented is a big part of my identity. Due to my lack of resources I was forced to drop out of community college. I majored in business math so allocating funds is what I’m familiar with. I’d do the obvious music industry dealings like, buying studio equipment, guitars mics preamps, pay for beats videographers and social media ads. Ultimately I’d like create a give back campaign for the homeless in my community because it’s what I’
