Who or what is your musical inspiration?
My father Albert Lil Man McCray, George Big Man McCray and James Pennie McCray was my biggest musical inspiration. They had a band called Power City when I was a kid that big, which most of its members ended up being in Rick James band. Then they became The McCray Gospel Singers which I had the privilege to record and help produce their album Power.
How would performing at the Global Citizen Festival impact your career?
It will be a great impact. I will get the chance to showcase my talent to the world and share my story. It w I’ll be a great and humbling experience. I can make my mom and children proud. I get to represent for my camp Da Beat Market, Black Genius Entertainment. The places I’ve called home, my hometown Buffalo, NY; Niagara Falls; Vancouver, Wa; Portland, Or; Seattle, Wa; Las Vegas; Atlanta; Dallas, Fort Worth and the city I call home now Arlington, Tx. What would you do with $50,000?
Use some of it to gather up all of my mothers grand kids so she could see them all for the first time. The rest invest in my music.
